Robert Downey Jr. is expected to pocket a fair few million from Marvel over the coming years; he’s just signed on for Avengers 2 and 3, having already grossed $3.9 billion for the four Marvel films he previously featured in.
Iron Man 1, 2 and 3, as well as the first avengers film have been incredibly successful at the box office, so it is no surprise that Marvel want more out of Downey Jr. There’s no word on an Iron Man 4 yet, but I’m sure it’ll be only a matter of time. Production for Avengers 2 begins in spring 2014 with plans for a 2015 release.
Even without Iron Man 4 in his schedule Downey Jr will be a very busy man, as he’s already shooting thriller Judge and is in lay for a reunion with Jon Favreau for mystery thriller Chef. Let alone the fact that HTC have just signed him up in a $12 million campaign to help boost sales of their mobile phones.
It seems Robert Downey Jr is more popular than ever!
I for one want to see Robert back as Sherlock Holmes in a third outing of Guy Ritchie’s revamping of the Baker Street inspector. What about you?
